To all members of the LAOH, GDICC and the GDICF,
Friendship, Unity and Christian Charity has never been more evident than this week. You should be incredibly proud of your generosity this Christmas season. It is clear to me that you understand how difficult the holidays can be when your finances are low, you have hungry mouths to feed and children hoping for a gift this Christmas. You have stepped up beyond expectations. Thank you
The attached photos are just an example of what has been accomplished this season. The Adopt a Family gift giving campaign has been a huge success. The program was coordinated by Maura Melody our Missions and Charities officer who worked with the Women’s Center of Danbury to identify the families. You donated gifts to 5 families who desperately needed items to rebuild their lives. Gifts such as pots and pans, sheets, comforters as well as toys and games for their children. These families are truly needy and will sleep a little easier this winter. The food basket campaign was also enormously successful. This year it was coordinated by Judy Corbett and Joan Finn both LAOH members. Once again, this year we collected food including turkey’s and hams to feed 50 needy families not only a Christmas meal but enough food help ease their burden for the week. I estimate there was at a minimum 2500 lbs of food donated by our members. As you can see from the photo, the food basket assembly day was well attended. Many hands made light work as well all shared in the heartwarming experience of helping others.
As members of the LAOH, AOH and the GDICC you all should feel proud that you are living up to our motto. As you celebrate Christmas you can feel confident that others are having a happy Christmas because of you. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
Sincerely yours,
Julie
